President Obama recently proposed to help U.S. small and medium enterprises and to increase U.S. products export to the world. The best way to accomplish this goal would be for U.S. small and medium businesses to join ASEAN(Association of Southeast Asian Nations) 10 +3. Because 2010 is the first year of ASEAN 10 +3, and this would be a great opportunity for small and medium businesses to test their business plans in a market comprised of more than 2 billion people. Also taking into consideration that ASEAN 10 +3 is the 2nd biggest economy in the world and will pass the U.S. to become largest economy in the world U.S. small and medium businesses do need some strategies to help them succeed! If they want to take this great opportunity, it is my humble opinion that the United States SMEs should take advantage of Taiwan as a "training" market area. If U.S. businesses can successfully enter the Taiwan market, they will be ready to face the larger market of mainland China. An important point to note is that both Taiwan and mainland China now have a significant interest to make sure they can sign ECFA (Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement) in this year. Once ECFA signed, then the success rate can be greatly enhanced to enter the mainland market, On the contrary, if they even can not success get in the Taiwan market then what kind of ability they can take mainland successfully. If the small and medium businesses enter the Taiwan market successfully, then the next step will be to divide the mainland market into 8 regional market regions. Taking into consideration that the mainland China market is huge, the U.S. cannot simply use one market strategy to apply in the entire Chinese market. Most importantly, the U.S. businesses need to accommodate to the local conditions, and break main market strategy to local market strategy. In conclusion, if the U.S. small and medium enterprises want to enter the ASEAN 10 +3 market successfully, then it would be wise to experiment with the "Taiwanese experience" first, and then proceed with a "Slice and Dice to 8 pieces" approach for the mainland China market. skill and if you also have currently the hottest "cloud" technology that would be big plus. |
