【TBSky News Repost】 Bought and freed a turtle due to mercifulness, child was saved sixteen years later. There is a shop in Taiwan Keelung, the shop name is "Yu Yuan Hao (the name means by chance branch)". The boss, Mr. Lim is very kind, the residents who live near them fish for living. One day, the fishermen caught a big turtle with net and prepare to kill it to sell its meat. Mr. Lim happened to pass by, and saw the turtle that was surrounded by the crowd and is going to be slaughtered is lifting its head to kowtow to people continuously, its two eyes shed tears, seems to seek help. Mr. Lim sympathise after seeing the incident, he bought the sea turtle with large sum of money, and asked people to send it back to the seaside to release. He was concerned that someone might catch it to kill again, therefore wrote the five words, "freed by Yu Yuan Hao" on the shell of the sea turtle, an indication of requesting people to be mercy and make an exception, to free it and do not kill it. They freed the sea turtle after finished writing; many people on the beach saw the sea turtle bobbing on the water, to thank Mr. Lim by kowtowing thrice. Everyone who saw was touched by the spirituality. Therefore made a promise to each other to never catch, kill or eat this giant sea turtle in the future. The slogan of "not eating with the three processes", of course there are also some people who held the opposite attitude, to ridicule and make sarcastic comments like superstitious, foolish and wasting money. Sixteen years after the incident, Mr. Lim's second son was admitted to Taipei Commerce School, he will go home by ship when there is a holiday during the week. On one occasion, while on the way back home, unfortunately, the ship struck on a rock and sank due to countercurrent. More than a hundred passengers are on-board, about 90 over passengers were engulfed by the sea. During the moment of the shipwreck, the vessel is full of screaming and the voice of calling for help, it was really deafening. Although Mr. Lim's son knows how to swim, but the wave is too great, he was engulfed by wave and sunk again, he was struggling in the sea. Suddenly, he felt that his body was lifted by something like a big round table, he then saw himself lying on a sea turtle's back, when he took a closer look again, the mouth of the sea turtle is like a washbowl. He startled, thinking that he would surely be buried in the sea turtle's stomach. So, he intends to turn over to jump into the water again but he was unable to struggle anymore. He wasn't how long has passed after that, while he was turning over, he suddenly saw the five words, "freed by Yu Yuan Hao" on the back of the sea turtle. He then only realised that this is the turtle that his dad saved at that time. Suddenly, his mood turned from sadness and fear into endless joy and comforts because the sea turtle is actually saving own self. So he was holding the sea turtle to allow the sea turtle to carry him, he is also chanting the name of Buddha to pray to be blessed and saved. The sea turtle is moving its four legs leisurely and comfortably, just like rowing a boat, struggling to carry him to the shore in the rough sea, Mr. Lim's son jump to the shoal before the sea turtle arrived at the shore, when he looked back again, the sea turtle is still floating on the water surface. Mr. Lim's son thanks the sea turtle with palms together to express gratitude for saving him. The sea turtle also raised its head and nodded, it seems like it is acknowledging his politeness, the sea turtle also seems like celebrating in joy by opening its mouth and swinging its legs, and also making sound, it then only turned around and swam away, the residents onshore congratulate anxiously. There are only about a dozen of passengers survived from this shipwreck, and the investigation showed that the survivors are mainly filial children, virtuous women, and also those who do good deeds, this has proven that god bless good and kind people, and also bless the descendents of the kind people. When the local neighbourhood know of the incident, they were touched and impressed, and happy to do good deeds, initially, there was a fortuneteller/astrologer who told Mr. Lim that he will live up to 70 years old, but Mr. Lim live up to 88 years old, has no sickness and passed away peacefully. The local elders still like to talk about this touching facts today, this story is detailed in the edition of seventy-seven of 《Amitabha Journal》. The karmic consequences would be exact, how would a sea turtle know there would be a shipwreck in an open sea? And how would it know the second son of its saviour would be in trouble in the sea today? They have never met before, how does the sea turtle find him in the sea, and also carry him? Even if we search with human force, we might still won't be able to locate him successfully! The spirituality of sentient beings and the Buddhahood are really incredible! The karma is also incredible! The sea turtle knows how to be grateful, and also pay the debt of gratitude, does not hesitate in taking a risk to send benefactor's son home safely in a rough sea, even human also might not have this kind of spirit. It is worth saluting to the sea turtle! Buddha teach us to rejoice in praise, to learn the virtues of all sentient beings. 《The Avatamsaka Sutra》 said: "Regardless what is kind of the sentient beings in six realm, as long as one has merit, even if the merit is as small as dust motes, we should rejoice in praise, to learn from them, all sentient beings have their virtues that is worth learning, there even had a chance to pay homage, how would one has the heart to kill it?” We know that Mr. Lim could not bear to see the sea turtle to suffer the pain of being slaughtered at that time, therefore rescued and freed the sea turtle to have a new life. Sixteen years later, facts have proven that he has saved his own child, freed his own child to have a new life. Chinese Version （華文版）: 在 台灣基隆有一家商店，店名叫做“遇緣號”。老板林先生做人很仁慈，他們那附近的居民都是捕魚為生。有一天，漁夫們用網子抓到了一只大海龜准備要殺掉、賣 它的肉。林先生恰好經過，看見在人群包圍中有一只待宰的海龜正抬起脖子一直對人磕頭，它的兩個眼睛都流下了眼淚，似乎求救的樣子。 林老先生看了就生起恻隱之心，不惜大筆的金錢，把海龜買下來，而且請人把它送回海濱去放生。為了擔心有人又把它抓來殺，於是就在海龜的甲殼上寫了“遇緣號放生”這五個字，等於是請求後來的人都慈悲、高抬貴手，放它自由重生，不要隨便殺害它。 寫好之後，他們就把海龜放生了，好多人在海邊看到這只大海龜載浮載沉，向林先生再三磕頭致謝。大家看了都很受到靈性的感動。於是就彼此約好，以後遇到這種大海龜就不捕、不宰、不食。這“三不食”的口號，當然，總有些人持相反態度，冷嘲熱諷，迷信無知，浪費金錢。 事情隔了十六年，林先生的第二公子，考上了台北商業學校，在星期假日的時候，他就乘著日輪回家。那一次，在回程途中，逆流海面上，很不幸船觸礁沉沒了。船上乘客一百多人，被海吞沒了九十多人。 當 沉船的那個剎那，滿船驚叫、慘呼救命的聲音，真是震耳欲聾。林公子雖然稍微會游泳，但是海浪太大了，他又被卷沉了，就這樣在海中奮斗。忽然間他感覺到身 體好像被一個圓桌般的大東西托起來，一看，自己是躺在海龜的背上，再看清楚一點，海龜的嘴巴大得像個臉盆。他嚇一跳，想必這下子一定會葬身在海龜腹中。於 是他打算翻身，再跳人水中，但是當時，人已經無力再掙扎了。 後 來，不知過了多久，在翻身的時候，忽然間看見，海龜的背上竟然寫著“遇緣號放生”五個字。他才知道，原來這是父親當年所放的那只烏龜。忽然間，他的心情 由悲哀、恐懼轉變成無限的欣喜和安慰，原來海龜是來救自己的。於是他抱著那只海龜，讓海龜載著自己，他口中念著佛號，祈求保佑。 海 龜很悠然自在地鼓動著四只腳，好像劃船一般，在狂風大浪中奮斗著載他上岸，還沒到岸的時候，林公子就跳躍跳上淺灘，再回首看，海龜還浮在水面。林公子就 向它合掌，拜謝它的救命之恩。海龜也揚起頭，點點頭，好像還禮的樣子，而且還開口擺足，發出了聲音，好像非常歡喜慶賀的樣子，然後才轉頭游開，岸上的居民 都急來道賀。 在這一次的海難當中，只有十多位生還的乘客，調查起來，原來都是一些孝子、賢婦，還有平時行善布施的人，可見上天保佑善人，而且加佑仁者的後代。 當地鄰裡們知道這件事，都很感動，而且歡喜行善，本來有位星象家為林老先生算命，說他可以活到七十歲，但是林老先生活到八十八歲，而且是無疾而得到善終。當地的父老們，至今還是喜歡談論這件感人的事實，這事跡詳細地記錄在《阿彌陀行刊》七十七期。 因果是一點都不差的，在茫茫大海中，海龜怎麼會知道有海難呢？又怎麼會知道恩人的第二公子今天落難在海中呢？他們從來沒有見過面，海龜怎麼能夠在大海中找 到他，又托載他呢？我們以人力來找，也未必能夠順利找到啊！眾生的靈性和佛性實在不可思議！因緣果報也不可思議！海龜能夠知恩，又報恩，不惜在狂風大浪 中，冒著危險送恩人的孩子安全回家，這種精神，人類也未必能有。是多麼值得向它致敬啊！佛教我們要隨喜贊歎，學習一切眾生的美德。 《華嚴經》說：“六道的眾生，不論是什麼種類，只要它有功德，乃至小到只像微塵那樣的小功德，我們都應該隨喜贊歎，向他們學習，一切眾生都有他的美德值得 學習，禮敬還來不及怎麼忍心殺害它？” 我們看這位林老先生，當年是不忍心海龜受屠宰之苦，要救海龜，放了海龜重生。而十六年後，事實證明，他是救了自己的孩子，放自己的孩子重生。 ♟ Translated from:【真佛天空新聞轉貼】仁慈買龜放生，十六年後救子。 ♟Welcome to connect to 【TBSky News Main Page】 ♟Welcome to connect to 【 TBSky News Facebook】 for more news bulletins ♟Welcome to connect to 【TBSky News Blog】
