１９４２年　金出生於紐約曼哈頓的猶太家庭

少女時代便組成樂團　與朋友保羅賽門以一首歌２５美元代價為人錄製試唱帶

１９５８年　卡洛與Gerry Goffin相遇　成為創作夥伴　隔年結婚

１９５８年起金陸續發行單曲　但不成功

１９６０年　金夫婦倆為黑人女子團體The Shirelles所寫的〔Will You Still Love me Tomorrow〕登上美國單曲榜冠軍

不但讓後者成為第一個在流行榜封后的黑人女子團體

也讓卡洛與Gerry Goffin的創作組合成名

接下來夫妻繼續寫出多首暢銷曲

１９６８年　卡洛與Gerry Goffin離婚

金帶著兩個女兒開始個人事業

１９７０年推出首張專輯　但不成功

１９７１年２月　推出第二張大碟〔Tapestry〕　

首支單曲是４月發行的雙面主打〔It’s Too Late／I Feel The Earth Move〕

原本唱片公司以〔I Feel The Earth Move〕為A面主打

兩首歌曲一開始都有電台播放

但後來DJ跟聽眾似乎較喜歡〔It’s Too Late／太遲了〕　讓後者漸居上風

〔It’s Too Late〕由金譜曲　Toni Stern填詞

是首融合流行　輕爵士與Doo-Wop曲風的歌曲

在６月登上美國單曲榜冠軍　蟬聯五週　成為百萬金唱片　年終＃３

另外也是Easy Listening／成人抒情榜五週冠軍

國際則拿下英國＃６　加拿大＃５　澳洲＃５　愛爾蘭＃８

單曲的成功也讓〔Tapestry〕登上后座　蟬聯１５週　成為美國女歌手稱霸週數最久的專輯

直到２２年後才被惠妮休斯頓的〔The Bodyguard／終極保鑣〕的２０週超越

至今在美賣出１０００萬張

從１９７１－２０１１年入榜超過３００週　也是女藝人最高紀錄

隔年卡洛以〔It’s Too Late〕拿下葛萊美年度唱片

〔Tapestry〕拿下年度專輯與流行女歌手

（另外詹姆士泰勒演唱其譜寫的〔You’ve Got A Friend〕拿下年度歌曲　雖然金在專輯也有灌錄　只是沒推單曲）

堪稱當年最大贏家
