美國小姐凡妮莎威廉絲（Vanessa Williams，舊譯‘范妮莎威廉斯’）１９６３年出生於紐約

１９８３年成為第一位奪得美 國 小姐后冠的非裔黑人
不過成名前（１９８２）曾為某位攝影師拍攝過裸照（１９８４年被賣給‘閣樓’雜誌刊登）

引起偌大風波　而被摘掉頭銜
可是凡妮莎仍走過低潮　重新出發
１９８８年　她發行首張專輯〔The Right Stuff 〕　銷售達到金唱片
單曲則在流行　黑人　舞曲以及抒情榜皆有所穫  並得到三項葛萊美獎提名
１９９１年秋天　凡妮莎推出第二張大碟〔The Comfort Zone〕

得到更大成功 單在美國就賣到３００萬張  並得到五項葛萊美獎提名

另外在加拿大　荷蘭　澳洲也得到冠軍　英國　日本打進Top５

隔年得到葛萊美獎最唱片與歌曲提名
讓她的事業進入高峰期
原本以美豔黑人舞姬形象為主的凡妮莎
也逐漸將樂風轉為更成熟的抒情與爵士
