歌壇才女卡莉賽門（Carly Simon）１９４５年出生於紐約的上流社會
（父親是一家大出版公司的共同創立人）
從小熱愛音樂的她在６０年代曾與姐姐露西合組賽門姐妹（The Simon Sisters）進入樂壇
還有一首歌曲上榜
後來露西結婚淡出幕前 卡莉留在演藝圈獨自發展
１９７１年推出首張同名大碟
以一曲自己的創作〔Thats the Way Ive Always Heard It Should Be〕（US ＃１０）成名
隔年獲得葛萊美最佳新人獎肯定
１９７２年秋天 卡莉推出第三張大碟
專輯與單曲不但皆拿到冠軍 銷售突破百萬
她也跟小三歲的民謠／搖滾巨詹姆士泰勒（James Taylor）結婚
可謂雙喜臨門（有趣的是 她的成名曲是首反婚姻頌歌）
接下來的賽門可說是意氣風發
推出的作品均獲得商業與藝術肯定
讓她名列７０年代天后之一
不過進入８０年代後 卡莉開始走衰運
推出的大碟連續在商業市場失利
她跟詹姆士泰勒在１９８３年也以仳離收場
１９８６年 卡莉與Arista簽下合約
秋天 Carly Simon為梅莉史翠普與傑克尼克遜主演的電影< span>／心火>譜寫主題曲 ＜Coming Around Again＞
出人意料的 此曲打進Top２０
成為她６年來成績最後的歌曲
１９８７年春天發行與單曲同名的大碟 重新獲得大眾擁抱
進入Top３０ 美國成為銷售近兩百萬的白金唱片 英國是銀唱片 成賽門８０年代最暢銷的專輯
