１９８１年　美國歌壇天后黛安娜羅絲（Diana Ross）從多年東家跳槽RCA唱片

首張專輯［Why Do Fools Fall in Love］有不錯成績

接下來的［Silk Electric］表現也差強人意

１９８３年６月　３９歲的黛安娜推出在RCA的第三張大碟［Ross］（１９７８年她也發行一張結合新歌／舊曲的［Ross］專輯）

這回邀來Gary Katz與Ray Parker, Jr.與她共同製作

首支單曲是［Pieces of Ice／冰屑］

此曲由Gary Katz譜寫製作　是首融合迪斯可　搖滾　靈魂　urban的舞曲

在快板的節拍中　羅絲以一種性感絲滑的唱腔演繹

［Pieces of Ice］只拿到美國單曲榜＃３１　成為她五年來首支專輯沒打入Top２０的首支單曲（另外拿到黑人榜＃１５　舞曲榜＃１７）

國際方面：英國＃４６　挪威＃８　瑞典＃１４　芬蘭＃１３　德國＃３９（４萬張）　澳洲＃７３

MV由Bob Giraldi執導　這是兩人首度合作

接下來他為羅絲執導數支音樂錄影帶

只見全身豔紅緊身打扮的羅絲身處一處冰洞　與數位動物化成人型的俊男美女共舞

這是黛安娜的MV首次有編舞演出

這支錄影帶拍攝精彩　為歌曲增分不少

只是［Ross］專輯樂評普通　也是羅絲１９７９年後首張沒有製作出Top２０熱門曲的大碟

這是她１９８０年代首次事業低潮

黛安娜的事業就這樣起起伏伏直到８０年代結束
