由Eric Maschwitz以筆名Holt Marvell作詞， Jack Strachey作曲，兩人都是英國人。

這是“梅菲爾歌曲／Mayfair songs”之一．

Maschwitz應Joan Carr的要求，以筆名Holt Marvell為英國廣播公司 (BBC) 播出的晚間滑稽劇創作這首歌。

版權於１９３６年提出。

儘管在１９３６年的倫敦滑稽劇［Spread it Abroad］中出現過，但並沒有引起人們興趣，

直到著名的西印度鋼琴家和歌手Leslie Hutchinson，“Hutch＂，１９３６年灌錄發行，隨後獲得巨大成功，並被世界各地的音樂家錄製。
