美國哈德遜河畫派相關畫家──以肖像畫和歷史場景聞名的［湯馬斯．普里查德．羅西特］

湯馬斯．普里查德．羅西特（Thomas Prichard Rossiter，1818-1871 年），

美國畫家．以肖像畫和歷史場景繪畫而聞名，後來與哈德遜河畫派藝術家產生聯繫。 

1818 年出生於康乃狄克州紐哈芬。首先跟隨約翰·博伊德學習繪畫，後來跟隨納Nathaniel Jocelyn學習繪畫。

1838年，羅西特在國家設計學院展出了兩幅畫作；

隔年搬到紐約市並開設了一家工作室。 

1840 年，他與 Asher B. Durand、John Kensett 和 John William Casilear 一起遊歷歐洲。

在那裡，羅西特與湯馬斯科爾一起訪問羅馬，並決定留在義大利。

1846 年，他回到紐約市，與肯塞特和路易斯朗共用一間工作室。

1849年，羅西特被選為國家科學院院士。

1851年，他與安娜·埃里克·帕姆利結婚。 1853 年，他們遊歷歐洲，並在巴黎定居，安娜在那裡生下了雙胞胎埃里克·肯塞特和夏洛特。 

1853 年至 1856 年間，羅西特在巴黎設有工作室，並因其《15 世紀的威尼斯》在 1855 年世界博覽會上獲得金獎。

安娜在女兒安娜出生後不久去世，全家搬回紐約。

在很短的時間內，羅西特擁有一家藝術畫廊，展出他和他朋友的作品。

1857 年，羅西特開始創作幾幅描繪美國早期歷史場景的大型作品，包括《華盛頓和拉法葉在弗農山莊》、《華盛頓和他的第一個內閣》以及《喬治華盛頓和家人》。

1860 年，羅西特與瑪麗（莫莉）斯特林結婚，並舉家搬到紐約哈德遜河畔的冷泉。

他設計了一座名為 Fair Lawn 的房子，俯瞰哈德遜河。

他繼續創作肖像畫、歷史畫和宗教畫，並在國家設計學院和賓夕法尼亞美術學院展出．

1871 年去世。
