１９９６年２月，英國偶像天團接招（Take That）正式解散，團員各自展開個人事業

除早已離團的羅比威廉斯（Robbie Williams）外，最被看好的是主唱蓋瑞巴洛（Gary Barlow）

１９９６年７月，２５歲的蓋瑞推出首支個人單曲［Forever Love］，一舉登上英國榜冠軍，為其單飛事業有個好開頭

接下來，巴洛開始籌備首張專輯［Open Road］,製作群超過十人（包括蓋瑞自己）

１９９７年５月，大碟［Open Road］正式上市（BMG／RCA／Arista出版），

蓋瑞負責八首歌曲創作，樂評良好．

為配合專輯發行，蓋瑞在４月推出第二先發主打［Love Wont Wait／愛不會等待］

此曲由美國樂壇女皇瑪丹娜（Madonna）與Shep Pettibone合寫，原本是為大碟［Bedtime Stories］創作，最後捨棄未用．

巴洛後來拿到［Love Wont Wait］的demo試唱帶, 認為很適合［Open Road］，決定灌錄，不過將歌詞原先的女性觀點改成男性角度．

Stephen J. Lipson將其製作成一首舞曲流行曲, 在中板的節奏中, 蓋瑞以他醇厚的男中音演繹

［Love Wont Wait］受到大眾歡迎, 成為巴洛第二首英國單曲榜冠軍（1997年終#65）, 取得銀唱片（２５萬張）
