Coffee can be classified into two types; namely, single coffee and espresso. Let us talk about single coffee first. It is the origin of coffee. Its names have to do with where the coffee trees are planted. The names are available as Blue Mountain Coffee, Mandheling Coffee, Brazil Coffee, etc.
1. Blue Mountain coffee It is produced on Blue Mountain in Jamaica. Caffeine is low, less than half of other origin coffee. It is a little bit acid and has to be deeply roasted. The Blue mountain’s soil is fertile, air is fresh; almost no pollution which makes coffee have its special taste and aroma. Thanks to the special geographic condition and suitable climate, Blue Mountain coffee is loved widely. But it is not the entire coffee from Blue Mountain can be called Blue Mountain coffee. Only from an altitude of 1800 meters or above, the product can be called “Blue Mountain Coffee.’’ The other ones we call” Jamaica mountain coffee.’’
2. Mandheling coffee The coffee comes from Sumatra Island Indonesia. It is a single coffee. The coffee trees were planted since 18th century. Actually Mandheling coffee is not named by its origin , it is a racial name. A story said that a Japanese soldier, during WWII stationed in Sumatra Island, had a drink of coffee by chance and asked the peddler, “Where is it from?” The peddler misunderstood the question as “Where are you from?” and answered to the soldier “Mamdheling.’’ Because of the beautiful mistake , the coffee has been named “Mandheling” instead of “Sumatra Coffee.”
3. Brazil coffee Brazil coffee accounts for two-third of the world’s coffee production. This kind of coffee is lightly roasted and acid with a little bit bitterness.
4. Mandheling and Brazil coffee 曼巴咖啡 Deeply roasted Mandheling coffee (strong in taste) plus lightly roasted Brazil coffee (a little bit acid) can achieve complementary result. The blended coffee has its distinctive aroma.
