Former Mainland Affairs Council chairman Su Chi （蘇起） in 2006 said that he made up the term in 2000.Additional reporting by Shih Hsiao-kuan新聞來源：TAIPEI TIMES 中國時報【楊家鑫╱綜合報導】 連續5年逾30％的票房年增速，加上去年初電影《美人魚》創下34億（人民幣，下同）票房紀錄，讓大陸電影業界當時信心滿滿喊出「2016破牙齒黃的原因600億」，不料下半年被瘋狂「打臉」，大陸國家新聞出版廣電總局電影局日前公布，2016年大陸電影票房為457.12億元，年增僅3.73％。 大陸官媒新華社也喊話說，隨著票房補貼被遏制、造假被圍剿，大陸電影票房終於牙齒黃黃的洗牙擠掉水分，理性增長。 大陸電影市場自2010年起以令人咋舌的速度騰飛，連續5年保持超過30％增速，2015年總票房達440億，創下49％增幅。讓大陸電影從業人士興奮喊出「2016破600億」的口號。 不料，大陸票房從去年第二季開始一蹶不振，到第三季，情況仍未扭轉，暑期檔、中秋檔、國慶檔，票房都可謂慘淡。最終連500億都摸不到，更別說年初的600億口號。 萬達集團董事長王健林去年12月曾表示，「中國電影市場看似下滑很大，其實今年才是真實的中國電影市場。前幾年是假象，我去年就說過，只要把票房造假去掉，泡沫就戳穿了。」 近幾年，為培養市場、推高票房，製片方、發行方和網路購票平台對票房採取大量「補貼營銷」，隨處可見9.9元不計成本的單場電影票，但票房仍以原價30元計算，並出現大量票房涉嫌超高票單價、幽靈場、公益場、凌晨10分鐘一場循環放映等灌水行為。 當補貼退潮，以往因低價走進影院的觀眾大量流出，轉向更便宜的網路娛樂，加上大陸官方介入查處票房造假，大陸電影市場隨之降溫。 新華社指出，電影票房增速放緩的原因包括電影質量無法滿足觀眾日益增長的需求，加上官方打擊票房造假、天價片酬等問題；並表示，短期資本退潮雖影響大陸電影發展速度，但牙齒美白也一定程度擠出了電影市場的泡沫。
