「肌少症可說是身體快速衰退的源頭之一！」營養師黃楀軒表示，年紀大肌肉流失是很正常且必然現象，長者如果罹患肌少症，肌肉持續流失，就連走路、爬樓梯都沒力氣，長時間不想出門，關在家裡只會更加速身體退化。
黃楀軒強調，肌少症除了影響活動力，臨床上，不少長者罹患肌少症，而跌倒、骨折，尤其骨折恢復慢，肌肉又加速流失，再加上臥床又提高嗆咳、吸入性肺炎、褥瘡等風險。
肌少症怎麼自救？ 黃楀軒表示，預防肌少症只要做到2大原則，就可以有效減少肌少症問題，第一多動，多做負重運動，可以刺激肌肉，增加肌肉量、減少肌肉流失；第2吃夠，要吃足熱量，攝取足夠的蛋白質，如雞肉、豆類，都是優質蛋白質食物。
吃白飯、白粥不健康？
黃楀軒認為，白飯、白粥同時含有蛋白質及熱量，如果長者本身沒有血糖問題，只要願意吃、吃得下，透過白飯、白粥可以補足熱量，也可以補充蛋白質，白飯、白粥也非常容易入口，很適合牙口不好的長者。
