An identity thief takes some piece of your personal information and uses it without your knowledge. The thief may run up debts or even commit crimes in your name. The following tips can help your lower your risk of becoming a victim.

The blocking process is only one way for identity theft victims to deal with frudulent information. There's also the "reinvestigation process," which was designed to help all consumers dispute error or inaccuracies on their credit reports. CRIMIAL VIOLATIONS
Procedures to correct your record within criminal justice databases can vary from state to state, and even from county to county. Some states have enacted laws with special procedures for identity theft victims to follow to clear their names. You should check with the office of your state Attorney General, but you can use the following information as a general guide.

credit card 沒掉

仍然可假造一張你的credit card...
這是最典型的 identity  fraud.
要趕快進行 補救的 Blocking processing.

NS 打字 造表 還把 兩種 sample letter 打出來
公佈給大家使用.

如果 不作補教的工作 把你的揪資料銷掉
拿到你的信用及資料 還可再使用 買東西 消費...
作壞事的人 可用的方法很多 多到我們都無法想像的.

現在的社會 千奇百怪 還是 一句話:
害人之心不可有 防人之心不可無!
防人先從保護自己做起.

NS 前陣子 可能也被盜用 信用卡 不自知
正如 Moody所說的我的消費 都是walmart 或是加油站 及 supermarket
接到credit卡公司信 也沒說啥
回電去 問我有沒去 XXX 買東西 說沒...
發卡公司 就銷掉 我的卡 從新 給了一張
那時 還沒這麼多資料
麻煩一堆的 所有掛在信用卡上自動消費的全出麻煩
一一去更正新卡 還不見得有效..

英文懂不懂 沒關係
用得到的 就好了.

 銀行信用卡有風險管理部門,專門分析你的消費習慣,發現異常會通知查證。

台灣信用卡仿冒假卡很多,我以前在台信用卡也曾被人盜仿用,被銀行風險管理部通知發現。

美國的 identy theft 真是猖獗,尤其老是聽到老是有聯邦政府或機關的手提電腦被偷走,裡面都是數千筆個人社會安全號碼或生日資料,真是傷腦筋。

剛剛才在 NBC Nightly News 聽到 identity theft 的新聞, 真巧.

除了你寫的這些保護措施, 現在有些 credit card 如果發現你有 irregular activities 的話, 他們會打電話來向你查證.  譬如你的 credit card 一向都只用在加油和餐館, 但是突然有一筆用在一個離你家很遠的運動器材店, credit card 公司就會打電話來查證.

如果查證不是你用的, 他會馬上把你的卡 cancel 再發新卡給你.  我家就遇到過這種情形, 覺得還蠻有效率的.

資料越多越好.
保護自己的工作 事前防範比事後補救好.

另外 我聽說 信用報告 三大公司可一年一次免費
因為都大同小異. 所以有人建議
每4個月分別向一家要報告 一年可拿三種報告 來觀察自己的credit history.

用信用卡 真的要小心.
使用時 不能親眼見到 刷卡過程的要特別小心.
拿膠帶一貼 號碼就落入人手 聽到很多受害的故事..
