教師節讀詩

2024 Emily Dickinson Tell It Slant Poetry Festival 在九月舉行，

九月欣逢教師節，讓人又想起啟發自己讀E. D.詩的詩人余光中(前師大教授)，他譯過的一首詩〈冬日的下午〉"Theres a certain slant of light"(原文)，這首啟蒙詩引導自己走入「詩的永恆之旅「(The Journey of Eternal Poetry)。

冬日的下午往往有一种

斜落下来的幽光， 压迫着我们，

那重量如同 大教堂中的琴响。

它给我们以神圣的创伤；

我们找不到斑痕。

只有内心所引起的变化，

将它的意义蕴存。

没有人能够使它感悟；

它是绝望的烙印，

一种无比美妙的痛苦，

借大气传给我们。

当它来时，四野都倾听，

阴影全屏住呼吸；

当去时，远得像我们 遥望死亡的距离。

There’s a certain Slant of light,

Winter Afternoons –

That oppresses, like the

Heft Of Cathedral Tunes –

Heavenly Hurt, it gives us –

We can find no scar,

But internal difference,

Where the Meanings, are –

None may teach it – Any –

‘Tis the Seal Despair –

An imperial affliction

Sent us of the Air –

When it comes, the Landscape listens –

Shadows – hold their breath –

When it goes, ‘tis like the Distance

On the look of Death –
