吾家有嬌女，I have two adorable daughters: Fang and Yuan,
皎皎頗白皙。with healthy and rudy miens.
小字為紈素，The younger one, Yuan, is also known as Wansu, 口齒自清歷。 who is talkative but articulate.
鬢髮覆廣額， The bang covers her forehead, 雙耳似連璧。 and her ears are like twin jades.
明朝弄梳台， In the mornings, she put on her make-up, 黛眉類掃跡。 "brushing" her curvy eyebrows,
濃朱衍丹唇， and "applying" lipsticks. 黃吻爛漫赤。 What a mess on her tiny face!
嬌語若連瑣， Though like a clinging vine to me, 忿速乃明集。 she would easily throw a fit.
握筆利彤管， She prefers to use an expensive pen, 篆刻未期益。 but she just treats writing as playing.
執書愛綈素， She boasts of loving to read; 誦習矜所獲。 actually, she loves the silk cover of the books better.
其姊字惠芳， Her elder sister is also known as Huifang, 面目粲如畫。 a seraphic girl indeed.
輕妝喜樓邊， She likes to dress herself lightly and play on the balcony, 臨鏡忘紡績。 spending time before the mirror so as to forget weaving,
舉觶擬京兆， Imitating Zhang as he brushing his wifes eyebrows, 立的成復易。 but she often repeats in the same spot.
玩弄眉頰間， Actually, she is playing with her eyebrows and cheeks, 劇兼機杼役。 even more assiduously than weaving jobs.
從容好趙舞， She would leisurely do an ancient dance, 延袖象飛翮。 waving her sleeves like bird feathers.
上下弦柱際， When she wants to play a zither, 文史輒卷襞。 she would immediately close the book she is reading.
顧眄屏風書， When she sees the painting on a screen, 如見已指摘。 she would make her own comments on it.
丹青日塵暗， In fact, the painting has been blurred with dust, 明義為隱賾。 how could she understand what the painting conveys.
馳騖翔園林， When they scamper around the garden, 果下皆生摘。 they are always randomly picking unripe fruits.
紅葩綴紫蒂， Picking the flowers from footstalks, 萍實驟柢擲。 throwing away the fruits just for fun.
貪華風雨中， The girls love to watch flowers in the garden, 眒忽數百適。 where they repair it often.
務躡霜雪戲， Playing with snow outdoors,
重綦常累積。 they fasten the shoelaces again and again.
並心注肴饌， Not focusing on main courses on the dining table, 端坐理盤鬲。 instead, they concentrate on the appetizers.
翰墨戢閒案， They lay the brush and the ink on shelves; 相與數離逖。 only the sound of rattles entices them to rush out.
動為壚鉦屈， They run so quickly that furniture often obstructs them, 屐履任之適。 and makes their shoes loose.
止為荼荈據， In order to make the tea faster, 吹噓對鼎立。 they blow on the stove to expedite firewood burning,
脂膩漫白袖， and so the smoke blurs their white sleeves, 煙燻染阿錫。 and also blacken their silk clothes.
衣被皆重地， Their clothes are so thick, 難與沉水碧。 that cannot be easily washed.
任其孺子意， The two little girls have been spoiled for so long, 羞受長者責。 that they are unable to receive any blame.
瞥聞當與杖， When they are going to get a severe reprimand, 掩淚俱向壁。 they can only face the wall and shed tears.
