中老(寮)鐵路開通營運

A couple days ago, the international railway between Kunming, Yunnan Province, China and Vientiane, Laos inaugurated.  The railway marks an epoch of prospective prosperity in southern part of China and ASEAN.

Laos is a complete inland country, the poorest in Indo-China Peninsula. During Vietnam War, America wreaked havoc on the country with huge volume of bombs onto that mystical Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos.  Until today, there are still unidentified unexploded bombs left in its land.  Report said China and Laos had to take five months to do the bomb disposal along the scheduled route before starting the railway construction.  Anyway, the railway, as long as 1,000km, has completed and begun to operate.  Congratulations!

Inaugurate, as a term, is often used in the occasions of people elected or enthroned into important positions, like a chairman, the President or a king.

Another point may be worth your consideration. A super long sentence weakens and brings the article to its knees. Placing a train-like long sentence in an excerpt-like short article, you are like squeezing a gigantic bed inside an ultra mini-house.
