Leap: The £40,000 Seabreacher submersible speed boat bursts from the water

The remarkable boats can stay two foot below the surface of the water for around 20 seconds at a time

Rapid: The Seabreachers have an on-the-surface top speed of up to 50mph

Flying fish: With a yank backwards on the controls, they can breach the surface with a stunning leap, shooting up to 10 feet above the waves

Powered by a 260 horse power supercharged engine, the speed boats - which come styled as sharks, killer whales or dolphins - tear through the waves at up to 50 miles per hour

Killer styling: The boats come fashioned as killer whales, sharks and dolphins

Whale of a time: At £40,000 a pop, Seabreachers are toys intended for those with a healthy disposable income

How it works: a 1,500cc engine powers the Seabreacher. It drives water through a jet propulsion system. Much of the vessel can stay submerged as long as the snorkel is above the water to feed air into the engine to prevent over-heating. The cabin is sealed to prevent water getting in, and the pilot sits at fighter plane-like controls.

Really wild: This Seabreacher has been painted with the stripes of a tiger

Made from the shells of old US fighter jets, each Seabreacher is individually modified to suit the customer

Eye catching: Their designer says that buyers must be 'prepared to draw a crowd'

Natural habitat: With their not inconsiderable asking price, Seabreachers are most likely to be seen in the playgrounds of the rich and famous

A little more friendly: A dolphin-themed Seabreacher is painted with the aquatic mammal's enigmatic smile

Just as nimble as the real thing: Despite its unthreatening looks, the dolphin Seabreacher packs a punch

Wet ride: Depending on which model you choose, the Seabreacher can be fitted with a passenger seat

Comfortable: Pilot and passenger alike sit in these racing-style bucket seats while riding the waves

Mean machine: The fighter jet markings remain on this Seabreacher. All the boats are hand-made from the shells of old US fighter jets
