I wish that you were correct, because Taiwan needs a consistent Mandarin Romanization System, but ONLY Taipei CITY officially uses China's Hanyu Pinyin. Taiwan PROVINCE refuses to go along because 1) it doesn't want a system from "" China, and 2) the Pinyin spellings are often very stupid, especially the use of Q's an X's. So, Taiwan Province created a system called Tongyong, but it is foolish, because 1) it has very weird spellings, too, such as "Jh"in "Jhongli", and 2) it means the signs all over the island are not consistent. Using Hanyu Pinyin does not mean Taiwan would become Communist. Singapore has been using it for years. .
