I Keep A Different List   --Red Hawk

My neighbor counts his losses and his gains,

but i keep track of raindrops when it rains;

he makes notes of coins and dollar bills

while i am watching ants upon their hills;

while he is in the office making money,

i go out among the bees to gather honey,

and when he comes home tired and goes on line,

i am in the back yard drinking wine.

My wife and i sit in the gathering dark

and watch the lightning bugs and bright star spark

until we disappear, are covered up with night,

while my neighbor plots his life by computer light.

我的鄰居計算他的損失與獲利，

但下雨的時候我會追蹤雨滴的行蹤；

他記錄硬幣與紙鈔

我看著蟻丘上的螞蟻；

他在辦公室賺錢，

我出門在蜂群當中收集蜂蜜，

當他回到家累得要命而上網，

我在後院喝著酒。

我的妻子與我坐在黑暗當中

觀看閃閃發光的蟲與閃亮的星星

直到我們消失在黑夜的包圍當中，

我的鄰居透過電腦螢光幕規劃他的生活。
