少說,多做。
Speak little, do much.

良言不如善行。
Well done is better than well said.

Keep thou from the Opportunity, and God will keep thee from the Sin.

懶惰又沉默,傻人當美德。
Sloth and Silence are a Fool's Virtues.

愈愛唱高調,愈是辦不到。
Great Talkers, little Doers.

只要工夫下得深,小刀鋸斷老樹根。
Little Strokes, Fell great Oaks.

努力為幸運之母。
Diligence is the Mother of Good-Luck.

有恆者,事竟成。
He that can have Patience, can have what he will.

不拚到死,不會留名青史。
No man e'er was glorious, who was not laborious.

勤奮者知道,天下無難事;怠惰者只知,事事全難事。
All things are easy to Industry, All things difficult to Sloth .

工作要像能活一百歲那樣認真,禱告得像明天就要死了那樣虔誠。
Work as if you were to live 100 Years, Pray as if you were to die To-morrow. 

在凱撒心裡,凱旋戰車不足奇,戰勝自己才得意。
Caesar did not merit the triumphal Car, more than he that conquers himself.

向前看,免得落後一大群。
Look before, or you'll find yourself behind.

要活用你的天賦,不用鑽子來督促。
You may drive a gift without a gimblet.

別把你天分掩蓋住,它們天生有用處。
Hide not your Talents, they for Use were made.

曠世天才家裡住,好比金礦藏深處。
A fine genius in his own country, is like gold in the mine.

無知還不算可恥,不願學習才丟臉。
Being ignorant is not so much a Shame, as being unwilling to learn.

閱讀讓人更豐富,沉思令人有深度,討論使人更清楚。
Reading makes a full Man, Meditation a profound Man, discourse a clear Man.

多學學巧匠這一手:凡事靠自修,師傅還當他是笨頭。
Learn of the skilful: He that teaches himself, hath a fool for his master.

憤怒從來不會沒理由,只是很少會是好理由。
Anger is never without a Reason, but seldom with a good One.

憤怒能讓東西溫暖,卻會燒壞鍋爐。
Anger warms the Invention, but overheats the Oven.

把你的不滿當祕密;要是傳出去,全世界都要鄙視你,而且你還會因此更不滿意。
Let thy discontents be thy Secrets; -- if the world knows them, 'twill despise thee and increase them.

憤怒愚昧並肩走;怨恨緊跟在後頭。
Anger and Folly walk cheek-by-jole; Repentance treads on both their Heels.

忽視能夠消除傷害,報復卻會增加傷害。
Neglect kills Injuries, Revenge increases them.

誰若愛吵架,絕無好鄰家。
A quarrelsome Man has no good Neighbours.

為了他人使你失望而生氣?切記你可沒法一切靠自己。
Are you angry that others disappoint you? remember you cannot depend upon yourself.

最堅硬的東西有三種:鋼鐵、鑽石和自知。
There are three Things extreamly hard, Steel, a Diamond and to know one's self.

除了你自己,還有誰更常騙你?
Who has deceiv'd thee so oft as thy self?

許多人都抱怨自己記憶不行,很少人抱怨自己判斷不清。
Many complain of their Memory, few of their Judgment.

傻子笨得藏不住自己的智慧有多少。
He's a Fool that cannot conceal his Wisdom.

世上何事最容易?自己騙自己。
It's the easiest Thing in the World for a Man to deceive himself.

人人都自認,自己是好人。
All Mankind are beholden to him that is kind to the Good.

不幸的人沒人認識,幸運兒自己卻不知。
None know the unfortunate, and the fortunate do not know themselves.

大多數的傻子,都覺得自己只是無知。
Most Fools think they are only ignorant.

誰對一個人的判斷最準?是他自己還是他的敵人?
Who judges best of a Man, his Enemies or himself?
