１９７６年成軍於舊金山的氣象女孩（The Weather Girls）是美國歌壇非裔雙人組

由Martha Wash＆ Izola Armstead組成 , 一開始以‘兩噸樂趣／Two Tons O Fun’為組名──以此形容兩名團員外型分量

同年成為歌手Sylvester的合音

１９７８年，Sylvester推出第四張大碟［Step II］（Fantasy Records出版）

其中的單曲［Dance (Disco Heat)］是‘Two Tons O Fun’首度掛名的作品（Sylvester featuring Two Tons O Fun），登上美國單曲榜＃１９　迪斯可榜冠軍

１９７９年　Two Tons O Fun與Fantasy Records簽約，

１９８０年發行首張大碟，在靈魂樂界與舞廳頗受歡迎

不過因為已有一個奧克拉荷馬福音團體註冊‘Two Tons O Fun’之名，

兩人將團名改成‘氣象女孩’（The Weather Girls）

１９８２年　氣象女孩跳槽哥倫比亞唱片公司（Columbia）

１９８３年１月，推出第三張大碟［Success／成功］，由Paul Jabara, Jerry Solomon主製作，Charles Koppelman執行製作，樂評良好．

首支單曲是１９８２年９月先發的［Its Raining Men／天降男人雨］

由Paul Jabara+Paul Shaffer在１９７８年譜寫,  歌無形容不種類型男人的興奮與享受

原本想給迪斯可女王唐娜桑瑪（Donna Summer）灌錄, 但她當時剛成為再生基督教徒，不願唱褻瀆神明的歌曲．

後來給黛安娜羅絲（Diana Ross）, 雪兒（Cher）, 芭芭拉史翠珊（Barbra Streisand），皆被推掉．,

原本氣象女孩也拒絕，認為這是首瘋狂歌曲，不會有人買它

但在Paul Jabara持續懇求９０分鐘後，兩人灌錄了它．

Paul Jabara+Bob Esty製作成一首後迪斯可(post-disco)／Hi-NRG／靈魂／舞曲

節拍輕快討好．

The Waters Sisters擔任合音．

結果［Its Raining Men］成為氣象女孩首支打入美國單曲榜的歌曲，雖然名次不高（＃４）　

但首度讓她們在副榜－舞曲榜封后

［Its Raining Men］成為同志頌歌之一，也是舞曲界的經典

後來被許多歌手翻唱，包括英國辣妹Geri Halliwell，其版本登上英國榜冠軍．
