１９９３年　美國歌壇天王──王子（Prince，1958-2016）想發行他的合聲樂團新力量世代（The New Power Generation）首張大碟［Goldnigga］

但被唱片公司華納兄弟（Warner Bros）拒絕

反而以王子的精選輯替代。

其實在１９９１年時, 華納兄弟想推出, 但王子卻以錄音室專輯［Diamonds and Pearls／鑽石與珍珠］代替。

１９９３年９月  三片盒裝精選輯［The Hits/The B-Sides］（Paisley Park/Warner Bros.）正式發行。

其中前兩片［The Hits 1］［The Hits 2］可單獨銷售

但第三片［The B-Sides］就必須以整個三張盒裝購買。

［The Hits/The B-Sides］各地反應兩好, 登上美國Billboard專輯榜＃１９

２０１６年王子過世後, 重新入榜, 拿到Billboard專輯榜＃４（2016年終#159）

至今銷售突破一百多萬張, 拿到白金唱片。
