7A Vocabulary Definitions

ritual儀式(n.) a series of actions that people regularly carry out in a particular situation and in the same way each time

dependence 依靠  (n.) a need to rely on someone or something for help or support

exhibit 展現 (v.) to show or put something in a place where people can see it

fluctuate 波動 (v.) to change level, strength or value frequently      

severe 嚴重的 (adj.) very strong or powerful

furthermore 除此之外  (adv.) in addition (introducing more information on the same point)

contradict  自我矛盾    (v.) to disagree with what someone says

facilitate  有益於         (v.) to make something easier

temporary 暫時的 (adj.) existing for a limited time, not permanent 

abuse  濫用   (v.) to treat cruelly or violently, to misuse

capacity 能力 (n.) the maximum amount that something can hold or produce 

advocate 擁護者 (n.) a person who argues for or supports a cause or policy

steep 陡峭的 (adj.) sloping sharply at an angle; rising or falling suddenly

equivalent 相等 (n.) an amount, value, or function that is the same

decline 下降  (v.) to become less in quantity, importance or strength
