Parents wish their kids to reach the top or be top (頂尖 優秀）and make their kids spin like a busy top(陀螺 )from the early morning till the midnight. I do believe if one wishes to be top (頂尖 優秀）, he or she should be like a whipping top whipped and guided by a string, and parents are supposed to be the ones who have whip hands push and pull their children to well-develop their potential abilities on the process of trials and errors. Therefore, 勉強 is important. I do believe the powerful but graceful strengh( 強)results from the consistant encouragement and the spirits of striving to do what is beyond one's power(勉). 勉強 from my understandings means forcing oneself to manage with an effort or do with difficulty even when he/she is reluctant or unwilling to keep working. As a teacher, all I can do is simple---give my students consistant encouragement when they meet difficulties and motivate them to make things happen. |
