Stone Flute

That can only be you

From the empty night, making
the leaves roar with flames like crashing waves

Drawn out, no need for any correspondence
The perfect spout like the tinkling of jade and pearls
The call of the abyss makes eardrums tremble

Who discovers you, hears your pulse
Clear, and yet vague
Sails and oars, before the dawn
present you with an ancient image, rolling

Thoughts have lain dormant for a thousand years, antlers
pierce the road in the python forest
leading to deeper loss, the sun has set
Moonlight becomes an old tune in your black hair, waits
with the sun to leap out of a fixed eternity

You’ll never be brief, you’re forever still
You cling to yourself, never consume it all
Consuming it all is growth, growth has a limited life
You can only merge, go meet with
limitless termination, with your own impulses
resulting in the encircling and revelation of air

Showing signs of life, showing an insight of beauty
Your empty rhythm uncovers the body without secrets
makes birds shed their feathers, in the air
giving off a pure smell, evocative light
ignites the chaos, that abandoned road leading to the temple
Herds of deer perch on the shore, preparing to drink
a grand voice, rising from the mast of the shipwreck

Random Thoughts

——For a school friend
Someone gave me an incomplete poem,
I was lucky enough to copy it down as a gift in return.

Night, fragrance wafting,
Broken moonlight leaks through the vacuum of shelter forest,
To soothe a grieving heart,
And the riverbed’s purplish little flowers,
And also a wanderer with his reflective shadow,
Oh - you won’t cheat me?
My dream, my spirit!

The train has fired up,
The whine of the rails grinds out sound,
Crushing the wanderer’s heart,
Notes bursting from steel wheel’s axle shaft,
Farther, deeper, darker,
Please believe me: “My song, my soul!”

The winding little trail goes on and on,
Twisting and turning like a river,
Into the recesses of the earth’s lungs,
And after thousands of years of unfurling, converge,
Creating such puzzling questions,
Please move on: “My hope, my quest!”
