Sugar apple (釋迦or番荔枝) and wax apple (蓮霧) are the fruits often seen in Taiwan, but I do not eat them often because sugar apple is too sweet for me, and wax apple is a little insipid though it is juicy.  

They are two of top three fruits that Taiwan export to China Mainland, behind the number one pineapple.  In the wake of the ban on the pineapple earlier, China Mainland exerts the same on the sugar apple and the wax apple from Taiwan, due to harmful parasites have been found  in there. 

No doubt of it, people would think it is a political oppression on economic affairs from China Mainland on Taiwan again, rather than a regular trade.  Certainly, the islanders could think that way.  But China has the right to impose any sanctions upon her trade partners who are hostile towards her, including the U.S., then why not towards a "renegade province" that has been full of China-haters? 

Dear islanders, as long as you think yourselves as Chinese, a family member of China, instead spiritual Japanese, nor a colony of the U.S., then you could rest assured that no "imaginary" oppression from China Mainland would happen again.
