Pseudo-western ghosts and "public intellectuals" are negative terms referring those Chinese people who are contempting, humiliating, and bullying their compatriots for various reasons (not necessarily working for Westerners), but worshipping everything from outside, particularly from western world or even Japan.  They could be more hideous and evil-minded than their "masters", so sometimes their fates might be sadder when the days come.  For example, those pseudo-western ghosts during Boxer Rebellion in Gangzi, 1900.
