Last evening I went back to Bay Area from Taipei; as usual, I watched a movie during the flight.  This time I picked the subject one: an Indian film.

Including the era of British colony, India has acquired only nine gold medals in total from Olympic games since 1900.  Eight out of nine were in (field) hockey, and she dominated the item in Olympics before and after WWII.  The film captured the story in between the last pre-war game of 1936 in Berlin, Germany and the first post-war game of 1948 in London, UK.  In 1936, India participated and won the championship but still under the name of British India, in which the players comprised of those from different areas and religions of India Peninsula.  In that time, the sentiment of independence had been budding among the players, and they vowed that someday they will win the title for the independent India.

In 1948 of London, India finally won the title and her first Olympic gold medal as an independent nation, but her teammates of Pakistani and Bengali were excluded.   The picture also shows how did those British sinister "masters" and hypocrite "gentlemen", in addition to dividing the nation, try to foil the endeavor of their former Indian "subjects" from attaining the gold medal.

No doubt about it, displaying in the film there are also clips of singing and dancing, Bollywood style.
