Yesterday I told you guys that Chinese women volleyball won eleven consecutive games to acquire her tenth world championship in major tournaments.  Today I would like to introduce to you the captain of the team, Zhu Ting, one of the world top outside hitters and a constant "MVP reaper".  I got to know her in a game of Grand Prize(now VNL, Volleyball National League) on TV several years ago in Taipei.  As a slim and tall girl (198cm) with excellect elastic force, she can easily spike and kill the ball with or without good ball passing to her.  More than this, she also owns herself the expertises of first-class defence and blocking.  In short, she is an almighty player on courts.

Zhu was given birth to a poor family of five daughters somewhere in rural Henan 25 years ago.  Despite reduced circumstance, her loving father sent her to an athletic school when she was 13, and later on some coaches, including that legendary Lang Ping, discovered her talent in volleyball and gradually made her a super star,  (Zhuper Ting, some foreign media are so nicknaming her.)

In the same time, Aisan Cup of women basketball was on.  In the division title game, Shao Ting, the captain and small forward of Chinese women team, crossed over, spinned like a top, and converted a turnaround layup at one go to regain the lead with 5.9 seconds left and thus won over Australia, the team of second place in current world ranking.  Regretfully, she missed the tie-the-game three pointer to go overtime in the final against Japan.

Shao, now pushing 30, is not a professional player in the first place.  She was a college player in that prestigious Beijing Normal University and later won her PhD degree of education there (or still a PhD candidate, I am not sure)
