She used to be our landlady when my wife moved to NYC for her new job in early 90s, and later on my company also transferred me to there.  So we had been her tenents for nearly five years in NYC before we bought our own house in the same bourough in 1996. 

Her husband was a colleague and a superior to my wife in the same company.  Unfortunately, he died of heartstroke in year 2000 just before retirement.  Since then my wife and her had been even closer to each other, and she become a "migratory bird", spending spring/summertime in NYC and autumn/winter time in Taipei every year.  Well, she should be in NYC by now, but my wife lost her contact either over phone call or via LINE.  So yesterday my wife called her son in NYC and realized she already passed away during an accidental fall at the bathroom in her apartment a month ago, at 78. 

She was an overseas Chinese graduate of Nursing, NTU, and married to her husband, also a NTU graduate of Economics.  Since she married, she has scarcely engaged herself in the profession of nursing; instead, she concentrated in taking care of her husband, sons, and herself.  FYI, her another son is a prominent scholar: Harvard graduate, Ph.D of Physics from Chicago, post-doctoral researcher of Cambridge, and now he is a professor of life science in Peking University (his wife is also a professor of same field in the university).  How amazing!
