I told you in my previous writing that my granddaughter seemed not to love watching the animated movie Mulan, a Chinese heroine. (But now she accepted it.) Anyway, the movie is a Hollywood one, and we should show our kids of the stories out of home-made Chinese animated ones. Recently during summer vacation, a Chinese animated film Ne Zha has become a smash hit in Mainland. Report said the movie raked in more than 1 billion yuan (about 145 million U.S. dollars) as only the fifth day of its release, and would reach an expectant 3 billions of box office eventually. The phenomenon signifes the booster of living standard and leisure time in China Mainland, her "soft" power as well. Ne Zha, a Chinese mythical figure known for his rebellious spirit and his tour de force performed by riding on a ingenious "vehicle", Wind Fire Wheels. He has been appeared in two famous novels: "Journey to the West." and "Selected Stories of the Conferred Gods" (I have not read this one yet.) I will watch the film when it is available on Youtube or Youku. Certainly, by the time I will invite my granddaughter to enjoy the film with me. FYI, in Taiwan Ne Zha is worshipped as 三太子。 |
