My granddaughter is a pre-school "student" of a Mandarin-speaking nursery now. So as to let her learn more about Chinese, recently my wife and I spoke with her in Chinese almost all the time. Yesterday the mother of my son-in-law(親家母) came to town for the belated birthday party of my granddaughter. (FYI, my granddaughter calls her as grandma, and us Gong Gong/Po Po.) When we had some chats with each other; suddenly, my granddaughter interrupted us by telling her grandma, in all seriousness, that my wife and I "cannot speak English", then turning to us and saying her grandma "不會說中文". In no time, all of us burst into laughters. She is so cute! |
