What should we do when we are riding on buses in long-distance tours?  Reading and taking naps are not bad ideas.  But neither one could be easily done in a long and winding road among mountainous terrain like the one in the trip to Lishan and the other two places.  So how are the tourists able to kill time during such a tedious riding?  The answer is to watch the movies from CD player provided by the buses.

The tour guide played a CD of an Indian film "Secret Superstar",  a very touching movie, capturing the dream seeking of a junior high school girl who is looking for being a singer on stage.  Because of various reasons, mostly from her stubborn father, she could only wear a stocking-like mask to hide her face but show her talent through internet.  With the help from a boy classmate of hers, she finally met a show biz tycoon who was amazing at her voice and promised a stardom to her.  But it was her ever-pliant mother who, by firmly resisiting the threat from that male chauvinist husband and father at crucial moment, finally made her dream come true.

The film also reflects the social status of India, in which that conventional notion on the treatment of females as inferior to males is still prevalent.  I guess male chauvinism and the caste system are the key factors to restrain India from being a real big modern country, despite its ample human resources and fertile lands.

P.S.  Indian film industry now is prosperous, anyway.  Previously I did introduce to you another one "回家" at http://blog.udn.com/kkuo0810/56333214

十多年前我看過一兩部印度電影,都有印度風土民情的習俗背景,看了實在很難讓我對印度旅遊有興趣。

我也不想去印度旅遊. 不過印度電影還是拍得不錯的.
