In spring 1949 before PLA preparing to cross Yangtze River, CCP gave out a list of 50 KMTs "war criminals".  Why should CCP have to do this?  Because CCP knew it well that it had been an irresistible trend for her to unify the whole China, and she would never let KMT and America have the wishful thinking that China could be divided by a river.  Therefore, the list was the strongest proclamation CCP showed to Chinese people and the world that except unification there would be no other way allowed for China.  (I think the other one was Chairman Maos famous verses: 宜將剩勇追窮寇,不可沽名學霸王。)

Later on, the schism became a much wider strait mainly because of Korean War, and both side of the strait since have experienced a series of confrontation, truce, cross-fertilization throughout 70 years until now.  It seems people of both sides could easily and peacefully erase the demarcation without much ado.  But it wont be that easy and peaceful, and you know why.

Recently, the idea of "list" emerged in some Mainlands media.  The media called for authorities should build up a list to record those who have ever espoused Taidu, no matter by speech or by action.  It also said "whatever those Taidu advocates did must be able to be traced".  So far no any official response has been made to such a calling.  Well, in these information-explosive days, its pretty easy to obtain such information and store them in a big data base.

But once China Mainland officially gives out a "list" again like she did in 1949, then Li, Cai, Lai and so many others, you had better watch out!
