春朝一去花亂飛，

Trees blossom when Spring comes again

又是佳節人不歸，

in this wonderful moment without him.

記得當年楊柳青，

Time was when willows were green,

長征別離時，

he had to depart, heading to army.

連珠淚和鍼黹繡征衣，

Amid beads of tears and strings of stitches,

繡出同心花一朵，

on his clothes I embroidered a heart-shaped flower.

忘了問歸期。

But I forgot to ask him when would he be back.

思歸期，憶歸期，

I am longing to see him again, longing to hold him again,

往事多少盡在春閨夢裡，

but only could I reminisce about the past in my dreams and in my boudoir;

往事多少，

how many sweet things in the past?

往事多少在春閨夢裡。

how many in my dreams and my boudoir?

幾度花飛楊柳青，

Year after year the same blossom and willows, I am still alone,

征人何時歸。

lamenting when will my soldier boy be back.
