Of what an evil fame is he that forsaketh his father: and he is cursed of God that angereth his mother.(Douay-
Rheims Ecclesiasticus3:18)

If thou wilt incline thy ear, thou shalt receive instruction; and if thou love to hear, thou shalt be wise.

Stand in the multitude of ancients that are wise, and join thyself from thy heart to their wisdom, that thou mayst hear every discourse of God, and the sayings of praise may not escape thee. And if thou see a man of understanding, go to him early in the morning, and let thy foot wear the steps of his doors.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 6:34-36)

In all thy works remember thy last end, and thou shalt never sin.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 7:40)

Despise not a just man that is poor, and do not magnify a sinful man that is rich.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 10:26)

The heart of a man changeth his countenance, either for good, or for evil.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 13:31)

Blessed is the man that hath not slipped by a word out of his mouth, and is not pricked with the remorse of sin. Happy is he that hath had no sadness of his mind, and who is not fallen from his hope.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 14:1-2)

Before man is life and death, good and evil, that which he shall choose shall be given him. The eyes of the Lord are towards them that fear him, and he knoweth all the work of man. He hath commanded no man to do wickedly, and he hath given no man license to sin.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 15:18,20-21)

According as his mercy is, so his correction judgeth a man according to his works.(Douay-RheimsEcclesiasticus 16:13)

Flee from sins as from the face of a serpent: for if thou comest near them, they will take hold of thee.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 21:2)

From the woman came the beginning of sin, and by her we all die. Give no issue to thy water, no, not a little; nor to a wicked woman liberty to gad abroad.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 25:33-34)

Happy is the husband of a good wife, for the number of his years is double. A virtuous woman rejoiceth her husband; and shall fulfill the years of his life in peace. A good wife is a good portion, she shall be given in the portion of them that fear God, to a man for his good deeds. Rich or poor, if his heart is good, his countenance shall be cheerful at all times.(Douay-RheimsEcclesiasticus 26:1-4)

Her discipline is the gift of God. Such is a wise and silent woman, and there is nothing so much worth as a well instructed soul. A holy and shamefaced woman is grace upon grace. And no price is worthy of a continent soul.(Douay-RheimsEcclesiasticus 26:17-20)

He that diggeth a pit, shall fall into it: and he that setteth a stone for his neighbour, shall stumble upon it: and he that layeth a snare for another, shall perish in it. A mischievous counsel shall be rolled back upon the author, and he shall not know from whence it cometh to him.(Douay-RheimsEcclesiasticus27:29-30)

He that seeketh to revenge himself, shall find vengeance from the Lord, and he will surely keep his sins in remembrance. Forgive thy neighbour if he hath hurl thee: and then shall thy sins be forgiven to thee when thou prayest.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 28:1-2)

He that loveth his son, frequently chastiseth him, that he may rejoice in his latter end, and not grope after the doors of his neighbours. Laugh not with him, lest thou have sorrow, and at the last thy teeth
be set on edge. Give him not liberty in his youth, and wink not at his devices. Bow down his neck while he is young, and beat his sides while he is a child, lest he grow stubborn, and regard thee not, and so be a sorrow of heart to thee. Instruct thy son, and labour about him, lest his lewd behaviour be an offence to thee.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 30:1,10-13)

Wine was created from the beginning to make men joyful, and not to make them drunk. Wine drunken with moderation is the joy of the soul and the heart. Sober drinking is health to soul and body. Wine drunken with excess raiseth quarrels; and wrath, and many ruins.(Douay-Rheims Ecclesiasticus 31:35-38)

Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight! Stop doing wrong, learn to do right! Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.(Isaiah 1:16-17)

What more could have been done for my vineyard than I have done for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad? The vineyard of the LORD Almighty is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the garden of his delight. And he looked for justice, but saw bloodshed;
for righteousness, but heard cries of distress.(Isaiah 5:4,7)

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" (Isaiah 6:8)

The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.(Isaiah 11:6-9)

Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the LORD'S hand double for all her sins. (Isaiah 40:1-2)

He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets. A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice; he will not falter or be
discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope. (Isaiah 42:2-4)

The Sovereign LORD has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.(Isaiah 50:4)

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.(Isaiah 53:3-4)

Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth. It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.(Isaiah 55:7-8,10-11)

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and
to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? (Isaiah 58:6-7)

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD'S favor and the day of
vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.(Isaiah 61:1-2)

The word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant."(Jeremiah 1:4-5,7,10)

No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more." (Jeremiah 31:34)
