In 1931, she wrote her most famous novel, The Good Earth (considered to be one of the best of her many works). The story of the farmer Wang Lung's life won her the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1932. In 1938, less than a decade after her first book had appeared, Pearl won the Nobel Prize in literature, the first American woman to do so. 

賽珍珠女士 (Pearl S. Buck)是第一位獲得諾貝爾文學獎的美國女性，她也獲得普立茲文學獎；她更是世界上唯一的以寫中國題材的作品而獲諾貝爾文學獎的作家，她80多年的生命歷程中，大部分在中國度過。
