On The Value Of A Birthday

To son Timothy Jaw, and To Miss T. Chang
Written by Pagesound

What’s the value of a birthday?
A value to you or I
Who came to this world
Without power, wealth or fame

But shall we make it really light, so
it’s a regular and normal one, conforming
to the worldly party noises…

Only to keep in mind quietly to oneself
It carries a much heavy heavy weight
In almost everything one does
From now on to eternity

A value so we may grow up enough to
Bring more children to this world
or --
To bring more children to the world so that
We may grow up enough

A value as to find out who you and I really are
Maybe a value for you or I to see
There’s something we knew it’s inside of each of us vaguely since long ago … it’s
Unique, Powerful, Beautiful and Wondrous something, which
will help us to accomplish anything and everything good
earn respects from people around us
and world

A value for me that, I’m starting to learn,
birthdays to birthdays
shall value more in everything and everyone around me and in,
even an action or
a thought

Or a value
realizing how much more respects, gratefulness I owe
to my Mother… one, most important of my life who
shape, form, mold me literally,
the actual creator of me

as to my father he didn’t say much, teach even less
nevertheless is he the holder of environment, provides
everything so I may come to dwell

Awakening to discover a true Prince or Princess
in my parents’ eyes
a key link in a family line
where all ancestors of Jaws’ and Lius’
from beginning of time,
are called to present,
at the instance of my birth

What’s the value of a birthday

Seldom asked young persons nowadays
Lost? in TV-watching games parties or having a good time…
Hung up? on illusions of Fame and Riches Power or Popularity
Sex or drugs
“Birthday boy has the right,” they said.

What is the value of a birthday?
A value, I wish
is an effort to tenaciously discover
‘cuz all ancestors are gathered at this moment
year after year
to bring you further…
to see

the Gifts that are given to you
thru your mother, I and them

to equip you
the Knowledge yet to receive

to sit you at the
Top Throne of our family tree

that
whole worlds of theirs and ours are watching and waiting,
that
you know you are the pride and joy,
that
you are the apple in their eyes and ours,
that
you are the Prince or Princess,
that
you will acknowledge the utmost Truth and Knowledge, determined,
…to develop
the very best being of yourself -- and only the best
Love Wisdom and Strength, which these
have already been chartered in you thru
the tiniest elements of life
When your mother and I had wedded

What more could I say?
an older man from a far distance…
living at a desert place called Las Vegas
is forever rejoicing
in you, son

Happy Birthday
