１９９６年夏天　成員只剩下主唱一人Andy McCluskey的英國電子流行團體Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark（OMD/黑夜管絃演習）發行第十張大碟［Universial／世界］

歌曲主要由他譜寫  並參與製作

前團員Paul Humphreysm與Karl Bertos也貢獻一些創作

首支主打為［Walking on the Milky Way／漫步在乳白色道路］

這是Andy McCluskey參與創作／製作的歌曲　融合電子流行與英倫搖滾（BritPop）

此曲渴望的追憶年少的流金歲月　但卻告誡時間一去不復返

節奏輕快　但詞意卻感傷

［Walking on the Milky Way］頗獲好評　成為OMD五年首支登上Top２０的單曲（＃１７）

只是接下來的主打成績不佳　大碟也創下OMD成名以來排行榜最低名次──＃２４　銷售不佳

Andy McCluskey終於在１９９６年底決定結束這成軍１７年的樂團

並將重心放在培養新的團體──原子少女貓（Atomic Kitten）

直到２００６年才再度重組OMD
