瑞典流行搖滾雙人組羅克賽特（Roxette）成軍１９８６年

由時年２８歲的主唱瑪麗（Marie Fredriksson）與２７歲的波爾（Per Gessel）組成

兩人在１９７０年代末期就認識

當時波爾是瑞典當紅樂團Gyllene Tider成員　瑪麗則是其他團體合音

之後為Gyllene Tider首張英語專輯［The Heartland Cafe］擔任幕後合音

此時Gyllene Tider以此大碟進軍美國　但EMI的美國公司Capital要求他們改個團名

結果他們選了英國Pub搖滾團體Dr. Feelgood１９７５年的歌曲［Roxette］為名

只是接下來Gyllene Tider決定暫時休息

１９８３年　波爾發行首張個人瑞典語專輯

１９８４年　瑪麗發行首張個人專輯　皆獲得不錯成績

兩人並為對方跨刀

此時EMI的經紀總監建議兩人合作

１９８６年夏天　他們便以‘Roxette’為團名　灌錄首支英語單曲［Neverending Love］（波爾的瑞典文歌曲改編）　登上瑞典榜＃３　賣出５萬張佳績

羅克賽特乘勝追擊　發行首張英文大碟［Perals of Passion／熱情珍珠］　登上瑞典榜亞軍　出了三首Top２０單曲

１９８８年１０月　羅克賽特推出第二張大碟［Look Sharp！／小心］

登上瑞典榜１４週冠軍

前三支主打［Dressed for Success］［Listen to Your Heart］［The Look］也成為Top１０單曲

只是他們在瑞典之外仍沒沒無聞

美國EMI也拒絕引進羅克賽特　認為他們不合美國口味

當時一名美國的交換學生買了一張［Look Sharp！］回國度聖誕假期　

並將專輯給了明尼波利斯電台KDWB的DJ　

後者播了［The Look／外表］（瑞典榜＃６） 反應良好　並散播到其他電台　成為收音機熱門曲

此時美國EMI改變想法　１９８９年初迅速發行並行銷［The Look］

這首波爾創作　兩人合唱的輕快流行搖滾在３月底登上美國告示單曲榜冠軍　並成為金唱片

傳奇性的走紅

由於美國的成功　國際地區也反應極佳：

歐洲榜冠軍　德國／義大利／西班牙／澳洲／瑞士／芬蘭／挪威／紐西蘭冠軍　荷蘭／奧地利亞軍　英國＃７　愛爾蘭＃１０　法國＃１２

１９９５年羅克賽特推出首張精選　成發此曲　英國＃２８　美國舞曲榜＃４７

單曲的成功讓專輯銷售扶搖直上　加上後面數首主打的成功　在瑞典拿到六白金　英美皆是白金　全球９百萬張

［The Look］可說是羅克賽特的國際突破性歌曲　打開他們的全球知名度

開始這雙人組的長期事業（雖然他們在美國的高峰期相對有點短　只有三年）

成為瑞典繼ABBA之後外銷最成功的藝人。
