１９８９年８月, 唐娜推出大碟第四主打──北美第三單曲［Breakaway／擺脫］

由Stock &Aitken & Waterman譜寫, 製作成一首中板流行曲, 編曲略帶拉丁味, 輕鬆搖曳，只是並沒打入Billboard單曲榜

１９９１年初, 唱片公司重新混音［Breakaway］, 製作成中板House／舞曲流行版

在英國／歐洲發行, 並將之前的音樂錄影帶剪輯成一支新MV宣傳

［Breakaway］登上英國單曲榜＃４９, 歐洲其它地區成績不佳

但在拉丁美洲則頗受歡迎, 打進秘魯跟阿根廷。

至於巴西搭上電視劇歌曲, 反應熱烈, 成為唐娜第七首巴西電台榜冠軍
